Kazakhstan’s PM Karim Massimov has promised to look into the problem of blocked access to the LiveJournal, a vibrant global social media platform, across Kazakhstan, Novosti Kazakhstan reports. “I will look into the LiveJournal issue”, PM Massimov wrote in his Twitter account following a respective tweet by Aleksei Venediktov, editor-in-chief of the Ekho Moskvy (Echo of Moscow) Radio, who was wondering “what’s the story round blocking the access to LiveJournal”. August 19 Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications Askar Zhumagaliyev told that the access had been blocked following a respective resolution of the Saryarka court of Astana. Kazakhtelecom National Telephone Operator told in its Twitter account that “blocking the access is not in line with the Company’s policy. There is no benefit for the Company”. According to Bnews.kz, the two largest Internet providers – Kazakhtelecom and Nursat – had earlier blocked access to LiveJournal from October 10, 2008 to November 2010.
