8-mm diameter hail hit Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports. The fallout (hail with rain) level reached 18 mm in just three hours. Such fallouts are considered to be dangerous. “Atmospheric fronts were the reasons for hail. Currently all processes look like spring,” Director of KazHydroMet weather service Bayan Sazanova told Tengrinews.kz. Hail and rains are not rare for Almaty and Almaty oblast as it is a mountainous area, that gets very cloudy in times and the clouds cause lots of fallouts. This is very typical for this area, Sazanova said. Besides, she said that hailstorms hit different areas of Kazakhstan virtually every day. Director of KazHydroMet explained this by sharp gradients of temperature. “Unstable weather (hail, rain and strong wind) is expected at the whole territory of Kazakhstan, except for Western regions until the end of this week. More probably, the weather will stabilize in the middle of July,” she said.
