Kazakhstan Prime-Minister introduced Chairman of Kazakhstan Agency for Religious Affairs Kairat Lama Sharif, Tengrinews.kz reports. “The issue of religions is very sensitive. Humans live not only by economic categories and not only think of hog and hominy every day, but of spiritual issues as well. I think we have to have a responsible policy so that all religion-related issues are well-coordinated,” Karim Massimov said. “We are a multinational, multi-confessional country that our President has managed to built up. I think we have to continue that. We do not derogate any of the religions. Although it is not the same in many countries of the world. There are many pressing issues, because in the majority of cases there is a misunderstanding of one religion or another,” Prime-Minister said. He expressed hope that the newly appointed Chairman of the Agency for Religious Affairs will justify the confidence of the President. Massimov noted that Lama Sharif, former Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia and Arabic language expert, should be very familiar with religious issues. "Islam is a major religion in Kazakhstan. And we have to dot all the “i”s, so that there are no misinterpretations. Islam is a clear and correct religion. It just needs to be interpreted correctly,” Karim Massimov said introducing the Chairman of the Agency for Religious Affairs.
