Young people to picket US consulate in Almaty

Young people of Bolashak movement will hold a peaceful picket outside the US Consulate in Almaty and pass a letter for US President Barack Obama, Tengrinews.kz reports. The event is related to the recent death of 26-year-old Kazakhstan citizen Kirill Denyakin who went to the United States under Work & Travel program. He had been working as a cook at the Renaissance Hotel for two years, before he was shot dead by a US policeman on April 23 in Portsmouth, Virginia. The policeman shot 11 bullets into unarmed Denyakin who was banging on the front door of the building where his freind, also a cook, lived. “Until now we acknowledged the United States the most democratic country in the world and viewed it as a state governed by the rule of law. However, the latest actions of their justice demonstrate the contrary. This country let the person depriving another person of life walk free without even a notice,” the movement's press-release reads. Bolashak activists are planning to protect the rights of Kazakhstan people and request that American "killer-policeman" face a fair trial and is punished to the fullest extent of the American law. On May 11, Kazakhstan citizens wrote a letter to US authorities calling for a thorough and fair investigation on the death of Karaganda citizen Kirill Denyakin.
