Prime Minister Karim Massimov meets China’s Public Security Minister Meng Jianzhu

Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov met Minister of the Public Security of the People's Republic of China Meng Jianzhu, PM wrote in his Twitter account. Their talks were held in Astana on the sidelines of the 2nd sitting of the interior ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental mutual-security organization which was founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Except for Uzbekistan, the other countries had been members of the Shanghai Five, founded in 1996; after the inclusion of Uzbekistan in 2001, the members renamed the organization. Kazakhstan is this year's rotating chair state of the SCO. Attendees to the SCO interior ministers’ sitting focused on counteraction to organized crime, illicit drugs turnover, illegal migration, as well as on further legal frameworks for cooperation of the SCO member states in these realms. SCO Secretary General Muratbek Imanaliyev said following the signing of the Protocol that the participants “not only exchanged their opinions, but also worked out practical measures to strengthen cooperation between SCO member states in their counteraction to trans-border crimes”.
