Kazakhstan residents skeptical about parliamentary elections

Survey made by sociologists of the Institute of Political Solutions shows that Kazakhstan residents are skeptical about parliamentary elections, Tengrinews.kz reports. The survey called Social health in Kazakhstan cities showed that only 50 percent of Kazakhstan residents are willing to vote in parliamentary elections, whereas in January this figure made 64.8 percent. Only 57.3 percent of respondents currently trust the Parliament. Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced that parliamentary elections will be held in 2012. Political advisor to the President Yermukhamet Yertysbayev recently said that the current parliament should think about dissolving itself. According to Advisor, this will help the country to take a “new breath”. “The society is waiting for reforms, so the Parliament should support President’s suggestion of a bipartisan parliament,” he said.
