Yereymentai Wind Power Station to supply EXPO-2017 with power

Yereymentau Wind Power Station is going to supply EXPO-2017 facilities with electric power, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to Kazakhstan Minister of Industry and new Technologies Asset Issekeshev. “Samruk-Energo is planning to start constructing the first stage of Yerementau Wind Farm with a capacity of 45 megawatt this year. Pre-project documentation for the project has already been approved. It will be supplying power to EXPO-2017 facilities,” Issekeshev said addressing the government meeting. Earlier Tengrinews.kz reported that Kazakhstan Prime-Minister instructed that all the EXPO-2017 facilities use power generated from alternative energy sources. The Prime-Minister also said it was necessary to develop a program similar to American One Million Solar Roofs program for Astana and possibly for other regions of Kazakhstan. The Minister of Industry and New Technologies said that the government will finance installation of Wind Power Stations by farmers. The Government plans to bring the power generated by renewable energy sources to 1,040 MW by 2020: 13 wind power plant will be generating 793 MW, 14 hydro-electric plants will be generating 170 MW and 4 solar stations will be generating 77 MW.
