The third string of Kazakhstan-China pipeline is planned to be launched in 2016, Tengrinews reports citing the chairman of KazMunaiGas Sauat Mynbayev as saying at the 8th KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum. “Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline with the capacity of 30 billion cubic meters per year was launched last December. We currently transport over 63 billion cubic meters of gas to China via two strings of this pipeline. Construction of the third string has started and it is scheduled to be launched in 2016,” Mynbayev said. According to him, this will provide an additional capacity of 25 billion cubic meters of gas, with 5 of them destined for Kazakhstan consumers in Southern regions. “We are currently working on the capacity of the oil pipelines to take them to the full capacity in 2015-2018. As for Chinese direction, the nominal capacity is 20 million tons and it will allow both to transport our oil and transit Russian oil. KazMunaiGas also plans major investments in expansion of the gas-transport infrastructure. This will allow to increase gas transit via our country and its consumption at the local market,” Mynbayev said. Earlier Tengrinews reported that Kazakhstan and China would increase the capacity of the first section of the main gas pipeline by construction of the additional line. By Baubek Konyrov
