Max Petroleum to drill two more wells at Uytas field

British oil and gas exploration and production company Max Petroleum PLC operating in Kazakhstan is planning to drill two more wells in the Uytas field in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the official website of the company. Max Petroleum representatives say, that they are planning to drill the next UTS-19 well to the depth of 200 meters. Then they will drill another well - UTS-20 - that will be the last drilling of the initial appraisal program of Uytas field. Previous two drillings in the field were successful. UTS-18 appraisal struck oil at the depth of 450 meter and UTS-17 reached oil at the depth of 200 meters. Both reservoirs are of excellent quality and the company is going to complete the wells and put them on test production. The company's exploration drillings in the Sagiz West field were also successful. SAGW-9 appraisal well struck oil at the depth of a little over 1 200 meters. The reservoir is of good quality. A production casing will be set for test production at the well. Six more wells are to going to be drilled in the field to complete the current appraisal program. Appraise of the Uytas and Sagiz West fields is the principal focus of this year's shallow drilling program. During the fiscal year ended 31 March 2013, the Group produced 1,221,000 bbls (or 3,346 bopd), an increase of 19% from total production of 1,027,000 bbls (2,807 bopd) in the prior year. The Group is currently producing approximately 4,500 bopd. As at 31 March 2013, Ryder Scott Company estimated that British Max Petroleum had 10.9 mmbo in proved and probable reserves with an after-tax net present value discounted at 10% of US$184 million. British Max Petroleum has made a total of eight post-salt discoveries: - Zhana Makat (4,439 mbo of proved and probable reserves), - Borkyldakty (251 mbo of proved and probable reserves), - Uytas (858 mbo of proved and probable reserves), - Asanketken (1,958 mbo of proved and probable reserves), - East Kyzylzhar I (149 mbo of proved and probable reserves), - Sagiz West (2,543 mbo of proved and probable reserves), - Baichonas West (671 mbo of proved and probable reserves), - Eskene North (no estimates).
