Drones will be assembled in Kazakhstan's Astana starting 2016, Tengrinews reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Engineering national company.
The company said that the project to build the Aviation Technology Center in Astana is currently underway. Drone production and maintenance are among the future activities of this center. The plant is under construction and its commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2015 with the beginning of production activities set for 2016.
The Aviation Technology Center is supposed “to improve the military-economic and national security of the country and to reduce the outflow of a significant amount of funds to neighboring and other foreign countries for maintenance and repair of aircraft."
Together with potential customers, i.e. Kazakhstan's state bodies, Kazakhstan Engineering is now studying drones of the world's leading manufacturers: Elbit Systems, Aeronautics, Adcom Systems, General Atomics and others.
"After choosing an international company, Kazakhstan Engineering will set up Kazakh production of the systems of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that meet the requirements of the government agencies and organisations at the Aviation Technology Center. The potential consumers of the UAVs are law enforcement agencies, government agencies and commercial organizations," the company said.
