Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Japan Akylbek Kamaldinov said that Japanese companies are interested in obtaining final products for their nuclear nuclear power stations from Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Our companies that currently cooperating in development of uranium deposits and uranium processing have nothing to worry about. Their output will be growing; production and processing of uranium ore together with Japanese companies will keep developing. Japanese companies are planning to invest into processing of nuclear materials; they are interested in receiving the final products here and transporting the more of less deeply processed nuclear fuel to Japan,” Akylbek Kamaldinov said, commenting on the meeting of Kazakhstan Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerzhan Kazykhanov and co-chair of the International Commission on Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament Yoriko Kawaguchi before the International Nuclear-Free World Forum in Astana. Kamaldinov also noted that Marubini company has sharply increased production and Sumitomo is at the initial stage of developing its production. Toshiba is interested in brining new uranium processing technologies to Kazakhstan to achieve the full cycle of uranium processing in the country. The Ambassador added that the future of nuclear energy in Japan is very transparent, but the issue now is to develop safer technologies and implement them in the production process.
