Untimely detection of cancer is a problem in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the Healthcare Minister of Kazakhstan Salidat Kairbekova. "Cancerous diseases are in the 2nd place by mortality rate in Kazakhstan. Certainly, it is impossible to decrease the death rate caused by oncological diseases very fast. But we need to improve detection. The more we can detect, the more patients we will register. In foreign countries doctors focus on detecting the disease early and try to avoid surgeries, where as our detection is late and we have to get to patient to the OR, that's our main difference from the foreign countries," Kairbekova said. According to MP Svetlana Ferho, 700-1200 people with cancer are registered in Kazakhstan every year. East Kazakhstan Oblast has the highest rate of cancer patients. According to the Minister, cancer rate is so high in Kazakhstan that 4 women a day find themselves with cervical cancer and two women die from it. Cervical cancer is the 2nd most widespread oncological disease in Kazakhstan. By Altynai Zhumzhumina
