Nairobi attack

The Somali Islamist group al Shabaab (linked to al Qaeda) committed a terrorist act killing 39 and wounding more than 150 in a shopping mall in the Kenyan capital Nairobi on Saturday, September 21. The attack targeted a place frequented by Westerners as well as Kenyans, apparently to achieve maximum global impact. Al Shabaab had repeatedly threatened attacks in Kenya if Nairobi did not pull its troops out of the Horn of Africa.
