Tengrinews has got hold of another photo of the new 20-thousand tenge bill. It is different from the one demonstrated earlier, but matches the description of the source in minting industry. According to the source who has provided the photo of the new bill, this is exactly how the real commemorative 20-thousand tenge looks like. The bill is designed in grey and purple tones with the face value printed in the corner. The design displays several monuments, including the Arc de Triomphe in Astana. Another confirmation of this photo's genuineness is that the image was used in the annual calendars of the National Bank that were distributed among the country's second-tier banks. According to the source, the title of the calendar is “20 Years of Tenge”. Each page displays bills of a different face value and the first page has the picture of the new 20-thousand bill. However, it is also known that the printed test bills along with the calendars were soon withdrawn. The source suggests that the withdrawal may have something to do with the plans to change the signature on the new bill: it was signed by the National Bank's then-Governor Gregory Marchenko, while Kairat Kelimbetov is the new governor now and many believe that his signature so be on the new bill. Some time ago Mr. Marchenko said that changing the signature would cost the budget 2.5 billion tenge ($16 million). The bill that was presented to the journalists at the National Bank press conference earlier was a test bill. But its design was very different: the bill featured a bird, a girl, a cage, the sun and a couple gazing into the sky. And there is no officially confirmed information on the real looks of the new bill. According to Mr. Kelimbetov, the new 20-thousand tenge bill will to be put into circulation before the end of the year.
