Finance Minister named Kazakhstan's debtors

Kazakhstan considers Georgia, Belarus and Turkmenistan its debtors, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhsta Finance Minister Bolat Zhamishev as saying at the government meeting in the Majilis (Lower Chamber of the Parliament). “As for the debts to Kazakhstan. There are currently some outstanding financial issues with Belarus: they think that we owe them and we consider them our debtor. The fact of who owes whom depends on the exchange rate. We also have similar outstanding issues with Turkmenistan. Georgia also owes us. Georgia has stopped performing on these obligations and this is currently being discussed,” Zhamishev said and noted that Georgian debt to Kazakhstan stands at around $20 million. The Finance Minister also stated that currently Kazakhstan is not extending loans the state level to any countries. By Renat Tashkinbayev
