During a sitting of the Foreign Investors Council, Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed Minister of Communications and Information to take steps to lower the cellular communication rates, the Minister Askar Zhumagaliyev posted in his Twitter. “As part of the meeting with Telia Sonera, the President told our ministry to keep working to decrease the cost of cellular communication,” the Minister writes. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that GSM Kazakhstan owned by KazakhTelecom decreased the cost of on-net voice calls on May 15. The rate drop to 18 tenge exclusive of VAT per minute or 20.16 tenge inclusive of VAT. This corresponds with the maximum possible cost per minute on-net, fixed by Kazakhstan Ministry of Communications and Information after an expert evaluation of services.
