The joint project of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan Transborder Cooperation in Conservation of Biodiversity of Northern Tian Shan Mountains has been presented at the world forum for snow leopard conservation in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Tengrinews reports.

The project involves creation of an integrated system of the protected territories management to make sure that there are no barriers to migration of snow leopards in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Besides, the project is expected to have a positive effect on the living conditions of the local people.

The cooperation program includes preservation of fruit trees and protection of rare species of animals - snow leopards and arkhars. The project intends to provide joint protection and monitoring of the biodiversity in Northern Tian Shan mountains. It is planned to improve the pasture usage system with the help of international donors, and to promote the ecotourism as well.

The joint project of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will be realized with the support of NABU (Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union) and its branch in Kyrgyzstan, the Federal Ministry for Economic cooperation of Germany and Kazakhstan's Snow Leopard public foundations.
