Concentration of poisonous substances in Proton-M crash area does not exceed permissible level

Concentration of poisonous substances in the soil, air and water in the area of the crash of the Russian rocket Proton-M does not exceed the permissible levels, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kyzylorda oblast Akim (Governor). Representatives of the crisis center created upon instructions of the oblast's Akim Krymbek Kusherbayev are working at the accident site. The oblast’s emergency response team also arrived to evaluate the consequences of the rocket crash and the damage it caused. Experts of the ecological service took morning samples to define concentration of poisonous substances in the soil, air and water. The tests showed no excessive concentration in the samples. The next set of samples was taken in Baikonur town, Akai and Toretam villages at 04:00 p.m. The tests showed that the concentration was within the maximum permissible range. Ecologists continue sampling. After the rocket crash the experts recommended the citizens of Baikonur, Toretam and Akai to stay indoors, keep their windows and doors shut and obtain from using ACs. The restrictions were lifted at noon the same day. None of the local citizens applied for medical aid. Toretam and Akai villages was cordoned by Kazakhstan Interior Ministry. Shops were closed and bus movement was suspended in the areas. Akims (Mayors) of the nearby regions were recommended to closely monitoring all possible accidents at their territories and consider evacuation plan in case any contamination spreads their territories. Three chemical protection posts were organized by Russian services around the drop site. Russia has created groups to investigate into the causes of the accident and deal with elimination of its consequences.
