Saiga antelopes population has increased more than one third in Kazakhstan in two years, a href="http://tengrinews.kz/ " target="_blank">Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Asylzhan Mamytbekov, Kazakhstan Minister of Agriculture. “The number of saiga has grown from 85,500 in 2010 to 136,570 this year,” the Minister wrote in his Twitter. A mass saiga antelopes die-off happened this May in Kostanay oblast. About one thousand dead animals were found in the steppe. The experts said that pasteurellosis had been the reason of the animals’ deaths. The Ministry’s of Agriculture officials said that pasteurellosis disease was oftrn the main cause of saiga deaths. Mass saiga die-offs were were also registered in 2010 (11 920 saiga) and 2011 (441 saiga).
