Kazakhstan Interior Vice-Minister loses wife and son in car accident

Kazakhstan Deputy Interior Minister's car flipped over killing his family on the way to Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Interior Ministry. “According to the preliminary information the driver of the Toyota offroader lost control of the car and flipped over at kilometer 177 of Pavlodar-Astana road near Shiderty village at 02:50 p.m. on July 18. The car had 6 people inside, including deputy Interior Minister Yerlik Kenenbayev, who was on vacation,” the press-service writes. The Vice-Minister was delivered to Ekibastuz hospital in a critical condition. The accident claimed lives of three people: the official’s wife, his minor son and the driver. Yerlik Kenenbayev himself and his wife’s female relative (born in 1974) and her son (born in 2002) were delivered to the hospital with different injuries. “An investigation group is working at the accident site to define causes of the accident,” the press-service writes. Ekibastuz central hospital announced that the Vice-Minister has rib fractures and brain concussion. Yerlik Kenenbayev was in intensive care while in Ekibastuz. His wife’s relative was diagnosed with a spine fracture without spinal medulla dysfunction. “All the victims of the traffic accident are conscious and can be transported. We are currently waiting for a sanitary aviation team from Astana. The patients are about to be transported to Astana Institute of Traumatology,” the the Ekibastuz doctors said. The Vice-Minister and his relatives were delivered to the Astana hospital later the same day. They were first delivered by car to Pavlodar and then by plane to Astana. Their condition was stable during the transportation. According to the doctors, Kenenbayev was in shock. He has fractures of the 4th and 5th ribs and a closed craniocerebral injury.
