Training of polylingual teachers will start this year in Kazakhstan. On July 9 there was a meeting to discuss development of polylingual education with participation of Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov, Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to the press-service of the Ministry of Education and Science. “Upon President’s instructions pupils will have English classes starting from their first year of studies in all the Kazakhstan schools beginning next year. In five years these pupils will have other subjects taught in English as well. By this time we must train qualified teaching personnel to perform the work. That is why Kazakhstan universities are supposed to take effective steps to start training polylingual teachers in the 2012-2013 academic year,” press-service of Ministry said. In addition press-service of the Ministry said, that Minister of Education and Science of the country gave an order to open special department for training polylingual teachers of priority qualifications (engineering, technical and scientific directions) at Kazakhstan universities. These special departments will be operating in 20 universities of the country starting from September, 2012, including national and leading regional universities. The main goal of creation of the innovative polylingual educational system is to boost the number of three-lingual schools from 33 to 70.
