200 Afghan students to study in Kazakhstan medical universities

Kazakhstan Majilis has ratified the protocol on amendments to the Agreements between the governments of Kazakhstan and Afghanistan on cooperation in education, Tengrinews.kz reports. According to Kazakhstan Minister of Education and Science Bakytzhan Zhumagulov, the Agreement between the two countries on cooperation in education was signed on November 22, 2009. Back then Kazakhstan undertook to educate 300 citizens of Afghanistan in technical and professional education organizations and 700 citizens in universities by 2021. However, in May 2010 Afghan party suggested to review the structure of the educational programs. In this relation the document was amended to specify that 177 of these 700 Afghan citizens will be educated under Master's degree programs. According to the protocol, the largest number of Aghan students - 200 people - are to be educated in medical schools of Kazakhstan. Another 129 Afghan citizens will study agriculture. 75 people will study provision of internal law and order, 40 citizens will learn liberal arts and journalism, 6 students will study natural sciences, 18 citizens will get educated in social sciences, economics and business, 18 citizens will learn art, 6 will study law, 45 will get educated in state border security, 91 will study engineering and 66 will become teachers.
