Kazakhstan Interior Ministry has announced the names of the suspects of mass murders in Ile-Alatau national park, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the authority’s press-service. “The investigation has concluded that these crimes were committed by members of an Islamic extremist group; they were identified,” the press-release states. Living illegally in Kazakhstan, they regularly changed their places of residence. They rented the places they stayed in. They lived in Tausamak village of Almaty oblast where the blast happened in July 2012 and in Baganashil village where a big part of the group was eliminated during a special operation. The remaining members of the group are officially wanted. “These are Sayan Khairov, born in West-Kazakhstan oblast in 1975, and Zaurbek Botabayev, born in Zhambyl oblast in 1978. They are wanted by Kazakhstan Interior Ministry’s law enforcement authorities,” the press-service writes. On August 13-14 police discovered the charred and stabbed remains of 11 bodies scattered over large stretches of a remote Ile-Alatau park popular with international climbers and hikers. A criminal case was initiated and an investigation group was formed on the same day. These criminal cases on all the murders have been joined in common proceedings. An inter-authority investigation group has been formed and is led by a special prosecutor.
