Boston court assigns trial day for Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov

At the hearing on January 15, 2014 Judge Douglas P. Woodlock of the Federal District Court assigned the hearing of Kazakhstan students Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov to June 23, 2014, Tengrinews reports citing the Boston Herald. Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov were arrested in the United States in relation to the Boston bombings case and are now charged with obstructing justice and conspiring to destroy evidences in the case. The first hearing of this case took place on August 13, 2013. Judge Woodlock overruled the request of US Prosecutor's Office to start the hearings on the Boston bombings case only in January 2015. The investigators allegedly wanted more time to study the case documents. Meanwhile both young men from Kazakhstan as in American prison, and defendant of Azamat Tazhayakov was against the postponement of the hearings to 2015. Tazhayakov's father Amir Ismagulov was planning to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court if the hearings were delayed. Robel Phillipos, a 19-y.o. American friend of the two Kazakh students, who was arrested on the same charges, was the only one of the three to be released on bail. In a discriminating move the U.S. Court denied bail to Dias and Azamat, for no particular reason except for them being non-Americans. The two Kazakh student are now sharing a cell in the Middletown jail, 1 hour drive from Boston. All three teenagers pleaded not guilty of obstructing justice and conspiracy. In defense of Azamat and Dias their friends created a group on Facebook - it currently has 636 members - which is called Freedom to Dias, Azamat and Robel Days!, where they are sharing information on the case.
