Kazakhstan businessman Kenes Rakishev has become the new chairman of Kazakhstan-based BTA Bank's Board of Directors, Tengrinews reports citing the press-service of the bank. The decision was made during the unscheduled meeting of the bank shareholders on February 14, 2014. Besides Kenes Rakishev, Nina Zhusupova also entered the BTA Bank Directors' Board. The shareholders also ruled to terminate Yelena Bakhmutova and Mira Koshkimbayeva during the meeting. "Considering the decisions we made, the BTA Bank Board of Directors now includes Kenes Rakishev, Nina Zhusupova, Samruk-Kazyna Fund representatives Kadyrzhan Damitov and Raikhan Imambayeva, and Independent Directors Yury Voitsehovsky and Konstantin Korishenko," the press-service said. The reshuffling in the BTA Bank Board are linked to the planned sale of the bank's stock held by its main shareholder Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund to a consortium of Kazakhstan-based Kazkommertsbank and businessman Kenes Rakishev. "The renewed Board of Directors will ensure the needed succession and focus on efficiency and improvement of Bank's operation, amid th change of hands," the press-service said. On February 6, 2014 Kenes Rakishev and KazKommertsBank agreed to buy 46.5% of BTA stock each from Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund.
