Head of Samruk-Kazyna met with head of Gazprom

The head of Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund met with the head of Gazprom, Tengrinews.kz reports citing official website of Samruk-Kazyna. According to Samruk’s press-service, the meeting was held in Moscow and covered “the use of new opportunities created by introduction of the Common Economic Space at the territory of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. The parties discussed expansion of the joint activities in the whole production chain from geological exploration to distribution of hydrocarbons”. Participants of the meeting emphasized that the cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan is a strategic one and “the partnership in energy sector has a special place in enhancement of economic connections between the two countries,” the message cites press-service of Gazprom. The meeting of Umirzak Shukeyev and Aleksei Miller was also attended by the head of KazRosGas Kairat Boranbayev. According to preliminary data, Gazprom group sold 3.7 billion cubic meter of natural gas in Kazakhstan in 2011 (which is 10 percent more than in 2010). KazRosGas is a joint company of Gazprom and KazMunaiGas founded on a parity basis. The joint company’s main activities are purchase, marketing, processing, transportation and sales of the natural gas and its reprocessing products on local and external markets. According to the Fund’s public relations department, Russia and Kazakhstan signed an inter-government agreement on joint geological research and exploration of trans-border Imashevskoye gas condensate field. KazRosGas is the project’s operator. Explored gas reserves of the field are over 100 billion cubic meters. The Russian part of Imashevskoye field is currently in the country's unallocated subsoil reserve fund. Recoverable resources of oil and gas condensate field Tsentralnoye are 101.4 million tons of oil, 7.5 million tons of condensate and 162.1 billion cubic meters of gas. According to the joint statement of the presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia, CentrCaspNefteGas (a joint company of Gazprom and Lukoil) was instructed to prepare a production sharing agreement on Tsentralnoye field by the end of 2012.
