Air Astana, the principle airlines of Kazakhstan, has arranged for operational leasing of 7 Airbus planes from A320 neo family, Tengrinews reports.

Air Astana plans to acquire two A320neo, one A321neo and four A321neo Long Range aircraft.

The first A320 neo arrives to Kazakhstan in Spring 2016. The remaining 6 aircraft will be delivered in 2018 and 2019. The airplanes will have a capacity of 148 to 179 passengers. They will be used to make domestic flights in Kazakhstan as well as on international routes to China, India, Russia and the UAE.

According to a representative of the leasing company, Air Astana's deal was the first contract to lease Airbus A321 neos of Long Range modification. The deal was announced at Le Bourget Air Show in France earlier this month. He added that Kazakhstan could become one of the first countries to use these aircraft for commercial flights.

President of Air Astana Peter Foster called the deal a milestone for the company. &ldquoThese aircraft are ideal for Air Astana in terms of operating costs, fuel consumption and flight distance. Four A321 neo LR will replace five of our Boeing 757s. The other two aircraft are acquired to expand our aircraft fleet,&rdquo Foster said.

According to Peter Foster, A321 neo LRs will be used for long distance flights like Astana - London, Almaty - Bangkok, Hong Kong - Ho Chi Minh.

Air Astana got four stars, the Best Airline Central Asia / India for the fourth successive year and the Best Airline Staff Service Central Asia/India for the third year at the 2015 Skytrax World Airline Awards. The award ceremony also took place at the 51st Paris Air Show at Le Bourget.

&ldquoWe are delighted to have won the award for the 4th consecutive time, and would like to thank our customers for having voted for us. We do not take your loyalty for granted and we will continue to work hard to improve both product and service,&rdquo Foster commented on the victory via baviation.cn.
