Management of ArcelorMittal Temirtau have reviewed the decision made by the employees at conference held on February 25, 2012, and announced its readiness to continue negotiations with Zhaktau and Korgau trade unions, Tengrinews.kz reports. The board of ArcelorMittal Temirtau considers the unions' request for a 30-percent pay rise impracticable amid the current conditions. The company is ready for negotiations with the trade unions and will continue to observe the provisions of the collective agreement. The negotiations have been going on since October 2011, when the company offered the trade union several options for a pay rise, including adjustment of the wages for the inflation rate at the end of 2011, as well as differentiated increases for employees with low wages. None of these offeres were good enough for the trade unions, that's why ArcelorMittal Temirtau raised the salaries on January 1, 201, in line with the acting provisions of the collective agreement. Besides, the company decided to pay bonuses at the 2011 year end. On February 22, 2012, management of ArcelorMittal Temirtau sent the trade unions two additional offers. It was suggested to adjust the rates and the wages and consider the issue of wages level after successfully reaching certain planned amounts of finished goods dispatching. The trade unions' management acknowledged that the company had to work amid complicated conditions, but the offers were not accepted. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that metallurgists and coalers of ArcelorMittal Temirtau are going to fight for their salaries using all means. After 4-month-long negotiations over a 30-percent increase of rates and wages reached a deadlock, the trade unions had to hold another conference to discuss their further actions.
