Kazakhstan's Mariya Mudryak entered the world Top Ten sopranos at the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the singer's farther Alexandr Mudryak told Tengrinews. The contest was held from June 28 to July 6, 2013, and involved 3000 participants. 160 opera singers from 50 different countries reached the finals. Mariya was the youngest participant, she is 19. "Mariya was upset that she only entered the Top Ten. She is used to always being first and expected to be in the Top 3 at least. Western newspapers wrote that the European audience received Mariya very warmly," the father said. According to him, the singer got a lot of job offers from European countries after the contest. It was the goal of the contest. "Her opera parts, which she will sing, are scheduled out as far as 2015 already," Alexandr Mudryak said. He also said that Maria would come to her home city Pavlodar in north-western Kazakhstan for holidays. At present time she is studying at the Teatro alla Scala Academy of Lyric Opera in Italy. The girl had to choose whether to perform at the opening ceremony of Opera Theatre in Astana or to participate in Belvedere Singing Competition. The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev helped her to decide by saying that in this case it was more important to bring fame to her home country, Kazakhstan, by using her talent abroad.
