Documentary about Astana team’s participation in Dakar rally presented in Almaty

Dakar Syndrome documentary that reflects Astana teams journey to the third place of 2012 Dakar marathon rally was shown in Almaty for the first time, Tengrinews.kz reports. The documentary was filmed as one of Astana crew members’ story and it consists of fragments of interviews made before and during the race. Arthur Ardavichus and his crew told about the most difficult, interesting and sometimes tragic moments of the rally. According to Kazakhstan crew members, the documentary will become available through the Internet soon. According to the pilot, Internet users will be able to download it free of charge. “This film is our report to the sponsors and our story for our fans who were with us during this rally. We’d like to show our fans, our financial backers and all the Kazakhstan residents what Dakar race really means,” Ardavichus said. He also added that there was an opinion that it was easy to reach Dakar finishing line and to get a positive result. “Our crew has done all its best, showed this result and gained this title. We’d like to make it clear what it took us to achieve this,” Astana crew pilot said. He added that there were crews from other countries that had produced no achievements in 20 years of participation in the rally. Astana cross country rally crew that consisted of pilot Arthur Ardavichus, navigator Aleksey Kuzmich and engineer Nurlan Turlubayev won the third place in 2012 Dakar rally yielding the victory to two Dutch crews. 2012 Rally Dakar kicked off in Mar del Plata city (Argentina) on January 1. Marathon rally distance made more than 8300 kilometers through Argentinean, Chili and Peru.
