Italian Enrico Gasparotto became the best cyclist of Kazakhstan's Astana team after the ninth stage of Giro d’Italia marathon cycling race, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Vesti.kz. The cyclist came 16th in the race. Spanish Francisco Ventoso won the stage. Fabio Felline and another Italian Giacomo Nizzolo were second and third. A group of the most promising cyclists that had good chances of appearing at the winners’ podium fell at the last turn of the stage. The major part of Astana cyclists finished the race in the peloton (the main pack) and kept their positions in the general classification. Paolo Tiralongo is ranked 3rd, Roman Kreuziger, Astana leader is ranked 4th now. Canadian Ryder Hesjedal is the leader of the rating, Spanish Joaquim Rodriguez follow him. The next stage of the race will take place today, on May 15. It will include several steep mountain ascents.
