Toyota Fortuner
Toyota will manufacture Fortuner offroader in Kostanay, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Kazakhstan government’s press-service. According to the press-service, Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov met with President and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe Didier Leroy. The meeting covered organization of manufacturing of Toyota Fortuner in Kazakhstan. “A Memorandum of Understanding between Kazakhstan Government and Toyota Motor Corporation will be signed in Astana today. Fortuner offroader will be manufactured by CKD method. This is the method that includes welding and painting of the bodies and requires a full-scale production line to be set up at the production facilities of Sary-Arka Avtoprom in Kostanay. The plan is to produce 3,000 cars a year,” the message states. “This project is very important for us and is a good opportunity for a mutually beneficial cooperation. We are confident that the project will make its contribution into development of car-manufacturing industry and industrialization of Kazakhstan,” the press-service cites Didier Leroy. The Prime-Minister highly evaluated the prospects of implementation of the joint project stressing that “Kazakhstan is a member of the Customs Union and the borders of the car market are quite wide”. “The government will give every possible support to this project and will create all the conditions to make the work of Toyota corporation successful in Kazakhstan,” Serik Akhmetov promised.
