The Ambassador of the United States of America to Kazakhstan George Krol has delivered a speech in Kazakh in Akorda, Tengrinews reports.

Krol, fluent in Russian and Polish demonstrated his knowledge of Kazakhstan’s state language when handing in the letter of credence to President Nursultan Nazarbayev on March 18.

“Kazakhstan’s foreign policy based on principles of trust, equality and cooperation remains peaceful and balanced. I hope that your work will widen the horizons of cooperation and enhance the relationship between our respective countries,” Nazarbayev addressed the newly appointed ambassadors. The President of Kazakhstan congratulated the ambassadors wishing all the best in their work.

The Ambassador of Kuwait Tareq Abdullah Al-Faraj, the Ambassador of Pakistan Abdul Salik Khan, the Ambassador of Bulgaria Ambassador Ambassador Vasil Petkov and the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Ghurm bin Saeed Al Milhan presented the letters of credence to Nazarbayev along with the U.S. Ambassador. Three ambassadors spoke to the President through translators and the Bulgarian Ambassador spoke Russian.

Krol also impressed the journalists answering all their questions in the Kazakh language.

George Krol was sworn in as United States Ambassador to Kazakhstan on January 8. The American Ambassador arrived in Astana on February 3. Previously, Krol served as the US Ambassador to Uzbekistan. He also worked in U.S. Embassies in Poland, New Delhi, Moscow, Kiev and Minsk.

The ambassador shared that he enjoyed Kazakh national cuisine. In particular, he liked fermented horse milk kumys and camel milk shubat.
